Bio - Rob Belgard
Drums / Percussion
I wanted to write something here for Rob, until he had a chance to share
his background and story himself on this site as the others did...
Rob was the first musician to befriend me after I had moved to San Diego
years ago. His love and dedication to his friends, music, and life made
it impossible for people who met him not to love him right away, or feel
a very strong connection with him. He's known all over for his personality
and percussion talents, especially in the Ren Faire circuits and he's
always open to playing with anyone who just wants to jam and have a good
time. He's always been as a blood brother to me, standing by me in spirit
flawlessly, even through stressful times. When he first joined me, he
only had a horribly incomplete and failing 3 piece drumset, not including
the stool that would keep breaking under him, and little experience even
playing on a drum set. His soulmate is the handdrum first, but as percussion
runs hot in his blood, he was able to manage quite well with what he had.
Eventually, after a few bandmate changes and projects, he and I pooled
our money together and purchased a new drum set for him. Soon afterwards,
and with renewed excitement over having a good set and stool finally,
his increase in practice improved him so dramatically, in only a few months
too, on the drum set that it was as if he was a semi-pro already. Rarely
ever to get noticeably upset at anything, and eager to keep the peace
both in mannerisms as well as vocally, he often times helped calm the
air when issues and emotions would build among bandmates. I couldn't do
it alone and I thank him, his wife, and my life giver everyday that I
and the world have a Rob in our lives. Now, he has planned to take a rare
and very heart-important journey to New Zealand for a year...And though
we all support him and love for him to go, we'll miss him terribly. I
wish him all the luck, love, chances and paths, good weather, experiences,
and warm company while he is away, and eagerly wait to hear of his adventures
as well as wait for him to return. I don't think I could express in this
bio how much he means to me, and how much I wish I could do for him every
day. I hope this helps. :)
